BLOGMANIA EXTRA ENTRY OPPORTUNITY (PLUS FREE SHIPPING!) ~ SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: DANIE AMYOTTE CREATIONS

Today's Sponsor Spotlight features Danie from Danie Amyotte Creations! Danie is offering a pair of her What's New, Pussycat? Earrings to a lucky CCLL Blogmania winner!

You can see the entire lineup of goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Danie:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

Having an arts background and working in the video game industry does seem to go naturally hand in hand. But computer work being what it is, I've been meaning - itching! -to get back in touch with... touch. My day job is the best! Although very technical. Completely opposite to the work I do while creating jewelry : intuitive while I'm playing with the different materials, textures, shapes and colors. This has been a hobby for many years now, but I have taken time off from the jewelry and am just starting over these last few months. This little break paid off; I wanted an evolution in style and materials. I also wanted simplicity, femininity and quality in materials. And getting across to a larger circle of fashion-inclined (read addicted) women like me, or at least take a shot! Creating drives me and I have many more ideas to come, so stay tuned! :)

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

Honestly, what does it for me is the easiness and freedom to operate this shop from my (tiny!) workshop. Or from anywhere for that matter, internet being what it is. I love the proximity this medium creates.

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

From me :)

4. What kind of products do you sell?

I sell earrings and necklaces, sometimes made with natural pieces, like shell, nacre, feathers, semi-precious stones. Sometimes with luscious shiny glass. Always shimmering and colorful!

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

Usually the long necklaces with vivid colors are by far the winners.

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

Of course! But you'll have to check up on my shop for updates, I won't let you in on all the surprises. Let's just say, rich, deep colors and new natural materials and fibres.

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

I love new challenges. I was thinking about sewing, maybe recycled fabric friendly animal characters... with an edgy design. I love natural lipbalms, I make my own.. chocolate, coconut... Photography, drawing... who knows, I'll have to try everything at least once!

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

Every item I sell is shipped giftwrapped and satisfaction-guaranteed. My main goal in having an online shop is to create pleasant contacts and transactions. So if you have comments, feedback, personal requests, please don't be shy! You can also follow me on my Facebook Fan Page at Creations Danie Amyotte.

And now for a fabulous special offer from Danie, exclusively for CCLL readers!

Danie is offering FREE SHIPPING on all her items seen by CCLL readers!!! All you have to do is mention you saw her Sponsor Spotlight on Crazy Cat Lady's Library when you place your order!!! So please pop on over to Danie Amyotte Creations, take a look at all the fabulous goodies Danie has for sale, and maybe you will find that perfect something you have been looking for!

Today's Sponsor Spotlight features Brenda from Country Charmers! Brenda is offering one of her Birdhouse Kitty Ornaments AND one of her Snowflake Kitty Ornaments to 2 serarate lucky CCLL Blogmania winners!

You can see the entire lineup of goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Brenda:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

I've been Tole-Painting for over 18 years and I LOVE IT! When I'm not painting, I'm working full-time as an Administrative Assistant for a local school district. I am married to my wonderful husband of nearly 21 years! We have 3 amazing kids, two in College, and one in Junior High School.

After a few years of learning my tole-painting technique, I decided to give designing a try. Shortly thereafter, I was signed on with a publisher and started designing with a group of assorted artists. I had a number of my designs published!! Wow, it's a lot of work getting designs ready for print!! BUT, what a great feeling when the books are released!!

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

After many years of painting I started noticing more and more people requesting my ornaments. I met a lady at a local craft show who introduced me to ETSY, and from there it's been so much fun designing and painting!

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

I love the idea of old time country items. I also love "cutesy" things, so I wrote down names I thought I might like, but I kept coming back to "Country Charmers". It was a good fit.

4. What kind of products do you sell?

I sell tole-painted wooden ornaments, pins and other country keepsakes.

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

Christmas Ornaments

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

I LOVE the holidays, so most of the items in my shop are Fall and Christmas. After all, it's the most wonderful time of the year!

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

I try to add new items every couple of weeks. I will be painting feverishly the next few months so I will have a lot of items for people to choose from!

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

I take pride in the work I do - I spend many hours a week painting and will only sell my items if I am 110% happy with the quality. I strive to make every customer happy and want them to come back again and again.

And now for a chance to earn extra entries to win a Crazy Cat Lady Giveaway Package in the upcoming Blogmania event!

And as an extra- special incentive to visit Brenda's shop, I am offering the opportunity for you to gain some extra entries into my upcoming Blogmania giveaway!!! 2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

I opened one over a decade ago (to make ends meet) on ebay specializing in vintage linens and fabrics, but when they started making changes a few years I decided to make a change. I soon opened a shop on etsy and I also have 2 shops on my own website,

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

Not really. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make any holiday decor like stockings and tree skirts this year, although I have done well with sold them in the past.

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

I have nothing special planned right now for my etsy shop, but who knows what ideas I'll wake up with tomorrow morning? In the near future, I will be working on getting my huge stash of vintage aprons listed on my website for AnitasStuff.

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

Almost everything I make is one of a kind, because I don't do assembly line sewing or crafting.

Book Review: Mozart's Blood by Louise Marley

Imagine sharing the memories and emotions of the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart through a blood bond that spans centuries. That is the premise upon which this book gets its title, but the story line of this novel is much more complicated and intriguing than that.

Aspiring opera singer Teresa Saporiti leaves her family and her small hometown in 18th century Italy behind to pursue her dream. Landing a position at the opera house La Scala in Milan with the help of a gentle benefactor, Teresa’s career quickly becomes more and more successful, and she eventually finds herself working with the great Mozart himself, becoming infatuated with him despite his married state. After one exceptionally successful performance in Prague, Teresa finds herself sharing a bed with Mozart and a wealthy and powerful Countess, Zdenka Milosch. By the end of the evening, she has shared much more, and having “shared the tooth” with the brilliant composer, her life becomes irrevocably changed.

Young Ughetto was the only son of a poor innkeeper, born after seven sisters. As he nears puberty, he realizes his mother and grandmother are becoming unusually wary around him. Then one day he is sent on a ficticious errand by his mother and grandmother and his life changes forever. Abducted and drugged, Ughetto finds himself in a terrifying situation which eventually lands him in a small school for a unique group of boys. His own association with the world of opera eventually leads him also into a relationship with the enigmatic Countess Milosch.

Ughetto and Teresa meet each other in San Francisco during the 1906 earthquake, and after learning more about each other’s existences form a lasting bond. Although their relationship is a platonic one, they soon become inseparable, taking on various personas as the years pass to continue their existence without raising suspicions. Then one day, as Teresa (now called Octavia) prepares to take the stage once again at La Scala, Ughetto (now called Ugo) disappears. The unfolding events following Ugo’s disappearance are intertwined expertly and lyrically with flashbacks of their pasts. As the present story unfolds, the past is filled in for the reader, detail by detail, weaving an impressive and captivating story.

I really enjoyed this novel, and although I previously had very little interest in opera, I still found the settings spellbinding and actually enjoyed learning about the milieu, both in the spotlight and backstage. The way author Louise Marley adroitly knits together the past and the present made transitioning back and forth easy for me to follow and kept the flow of the story smooth. All in all, this was an entertaining and enthralling tale. I give this book 4 pawprints!

You can see the entire lineup of goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Susan:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

I am a busy mom with 3 young children and though I love doing art projects with them… washable markers, glue sticks and safety scissors have left me wanting another artistic outlet.

When I was young, I watched my Dad make stained glass window panels, lamp shades and suncatchers. A few years ago I asked him to teach me the art and I have fallen in love with the challenge and creativity of the craft. I find beauty in the glass itself, the colors and texture, and try to highlight that in my pieces.

I primarily use the Tiffany copper foil method but have started using the leading technique as well. You will find the focus of many of my pieces is nature.

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

It is the perfect outlet for me. I am able to work on my own schedule and create things as the inspiration hits me. One of my favorite things about an online shop is that I am able to reach people all over the world.

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

My creative husband came up with the name - it is natural and earthy and has a nice sound to it!

4. What kind of products do you sell?

Stained glass - panels, suncatchers, ornaments, plant stakes, etc.

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

Plant stakes in the spring, suncatchers over the summer, ornaments around Christmas and panels year round!

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

I am currently working on fall leaves and with adding copper accents to my stained glass. Soon I will start adding snowflakes and ornaments to my shop.

7. Any New and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

Recently I opened a second etsy shop of called
Red Pine Jewelry Design. Here I use all the equipment that I use for making stained glass but use recycled china plates to create unique jewelry.

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

I love special requests and custom orders! If you have an idea for a stained glass item OR you just broke a piece of your Grandmother's china and would like me to make a necklace or other jewelry from it just

BLOGMANIA EXTRA ENTRY OPPORTUNITY ~ SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: SIDESHOW STAMPS

Today's Sponsor Spotlight features Jennifer and Noah from Sideshow Stamps and Crafts! Jennifer and Noah are offering one of their Cute Little Retro Kitty Mounted Rubber Stamps to a lucky CCLL Blogmania winner!

You can see the entire lineup of Blogmania goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Jennifer and Noah:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

My husband and I run this artist-owned little rubber stamp business, Sideshow Stamps. We create and design all of our rubber stamp images, featuring retro, vintage, pop art, quirky, unique and beautiful themes; and we hand make all of our rubber stamps.

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

We started our business back in 2000. My husband's mom is an avid rubber stamper and she was always complaining that there were no quirky stamps out there suited to her needs. Stuff she could scrapbook with and make cards with that wasn't just that cutesy pie style. So, being artists ourselves, we thought "hey, why not make rubber stamps that are unique and different?!"

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

We are big fans of Circus Side Shows and Carnivals; Creepy B-Movies and Books; and Vintage and Pop Culture Ephemera. So when we were thinking of a name, my husband thought of how the side show in the circus is the creepy underbelly weird part of what is an otherwise normal circus. Offering weird characters, spooky sights, abnormal oddities. And we felt that as a rubber stamp company, along side the cutesy pie companies, we were like the Side Show to the rubber stamping world. Hence our name - Sideshow Stamps!

4. What kind of products do you sell?

Well, we don't sell just "weird" stuff. We offer mounted and unmounted rubber stamps in themes of retro, mod, art nouveau, circus, Hawaiian, vintage, animals, 50's 60's 70's and 80's, holidays, food, etc! Just about anything you can think of to decorate your photo albums, make cards or art with, or embellish an envelope; we have!

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

Right now, our retro animals are hot. Our pop art Owls, Hep Cats, Cute Birds, and Unicorns; along with our Leg Lamp from "A Christmas Story".

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

We have a whole line of vintage and retro style Halloween and Christmas rubber stamps. Creepy old movie Monsters, Jackolanterns, Candy, and spooky black Cats and Owls; plus a bunch of retro Christmas accoutrements, Ornaments, Candles, Bells, Christmas Trees, Presents, Snowflakes and of course our Leg Lamp stamp from that infamous movie!

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

We have some really cool new stamps that just came out - our Unicorns, Retro Candy, Zombie, Calavera guy playing a Guitar, a Squid, a Tape Cassette, retro Forest and Desert scenes, 1920's style Chicken and Rooster, Knitting and Beading, a Mod Girl, and Sushi! We like suggestions too so let us know what you'd like to see made in rubber! (But unfortunately we can't make custom stamps, so just suggestions please.)

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

We are celebrating our 10th year in business so we currently have a 10% off of everything sale going on at our website: http://www.sideshowstamps.com/
And you can also find great deals at our etsy shop: http://www.sideshowstamps.etsy.com/

And now for a chance to earn extra entries to win a Crazy Cat Lady Giveaway Package in the upcoming Blogmania event!

BLOGMANIA EXTRA ENTRY OPPORTUNITY ~ SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: CAT-TOURE

Today's Sponsor Spotlight features Jeff from Cat-toure! Jeff is offering a set of their Hopsters to a lucky CCLL Blogmania winner!

You can see the entire lineup of Blogmania goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Jeff:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

"Why do dogs get to have all the fun?" This was this question that led founders Jeff Kastin and Elyse Kigler in 2009 to create Cat-toure, a clothing company geared exclusively towards cats. Our goal is to help cat owners style their cat(s) with top of the line quality products, making sure they look cute and cool. Consisting of tanks, hoodies and hopsters, with robes and accessories to come in the near future, Cat-toure is sure to make your cat the meow of the town!

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

The inspiration for our Cat-toure clothing line was our Devon Rex. It all started when we adopted her, she was a year old, and would not sleep through the night. She would wake us up in every which way and although cute at times, we eventually became fed up. We had found a small dog tank laying around and we decided to put it on her. To our amazement, she had stopped crying and was able to sleep through the night! We immediately went on the lookout for more tanks and realized one very unfortunate thing: That it was very difficult to find a properly fitted tank. It seemed that we had found an untapped market catering to cats and we were determined to start our own clothing line.

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

We wanted our name to be catchy and have the word "cat" in it. We came up with many clever names until finally one day Cat-toure popped up in my head. It was great; we wanted to sell high quality cat clothes, so what name could be better?

4. What kind of products do you sell?

Currently we sell tanks, hoodies and hopsters.

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

Our tanks and hoodies. For our tanks, our number one seller is our wings tank in heather gray. For our hoodies, it is our basic hoodie in purple.

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

We like to try and feature our products towards the appropriate season. However, most of our clients are internationally based, so the seasons are different. This is why we like to have a range of images, so that we can satisfy all customers.

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

We are currently working on our robe pattern, so that will be coming soon as well as some cool accessories.

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

Our tanks and hoodies are made of 100% combed cotton. We offer high-quality clothing; which is made of only the best quality fabric and craftsmanship. All of our clothing is handmade in Indonesia by skilled professionals who love what they do. Our clothing is produced in small quantities, therefore each piece is carefully and properly made.

BLOGMANIA EXTRA ENTRY OPPORTUNITY ~ SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: SPOOKLUFIBO

Today's Sponsor Spotlight features Christy from Spooklufibo! Christy is offering one of her Catnip and Crinkle Play Mat for Cats - Made with Recycled Materials to a lucky CCLL Blogmania winner!

You can see the entire lineup of Blogmania goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Christy:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

I have worked as a substitute teacher for about ten years. I have been married for 25 years and have two adult children in college. They are 23 and 21. I share my life with them and my four kitties - Spooky, Luna, Fido and Sambo - plus assorted fish!

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

My cats inspired my catnip mat creation and I learned about etsy by talking with someone at the fabric store one day while buying fabric for the mats. I had previously only sold them on eBay.

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

It originated from the combining of all 4 cats names: Spook, Lu, Fi, and Bo from Spooky, Luna, Fido, and Sambo! (CCL's note: The models in Spooklufibo's pictures are Christy's own purrbabies! Aren't they adorable?)

4. What kind of products do you sell?

I sell very cute catnip mats with homemade fringe, that are filled with grocery bags to give a nice crinkly sound. I also sell painted aluminum can tabs (from soda cans) that people use to make jewelry and other craft items.

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

I am too new to have a best.... but have sold 2 mats on etsy and about 15 on eBay. On eBay I have sold 100's of lots of can tabs as well.

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

The catnip mats would be an outstanding gift for every cat in the household..... They don't even have to have holiday colors although I can take requests!

7. Any new and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

I have at least a half dozen new fabric choices right now, but have not made the mats yet so can't list them yet!

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

The idea for these happened naturally while my cats were playing with the grocery bags. I thought it would be a great use, recycling, for the bags, beneficial for the cats because they actively play with the mats before going to sleep on them!! The mats are washable and can be tumbled dry on low - however - I find just wiping the excess hair off with a damp hand once in a while is more than adequate. This way the nice aroma of catnip stays in the fabric. I only put the catnip on top of the mats because I think it is a good thing to do, and the cats also "eat their veggies" that way!

And now for a fabulous special offer from Spooklufibo, exclusively for CCLL readers!

Christy is offering 5% off any purchase! All you have to do is mention you saw her Sponsor Spotlight on Crazy Cat Lady's Library when you place your order!!! So please pop on over to Spooklufibo, take a look at all the fabulous goodies Christy has for sale, and maybe you will find that perfect something for the purrbaby in your life that you have been looking for!

And as an extra- special incentive to visit Christy's shop, I am offering the opportunity for you to gain some extra entries into my upcoming Blogmania giveaway!!! BLOGMANIA EXTRA ENTRY OPPORTUNITY ~ SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: CRAB APPLE DESIGNS

My very first Sponsor Spotlight features Melissa from Crab Apple Designs! Melissa is offering one of her Vintage Kitten Notebooks to a lucky CCLL Blogmania winner!

You can see the entire lineup of goodies I have confirmed for the upcoming Blogmania event on September 15-16 by clicking THIS LINK!

And now some Q&A time with Melissa:

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

People describe me as shy and creative, and most of the time I agree with them on both counts (but not always!). Without a doubt, I am a lifelong crafter with a passion for paper, fabric, and the beach. I was born in New Orleans and have lived all over the south. I was married in August of this year and am living in newly-wedded bliss with a very special man and our little dog Lucy.

2. What was your inspiration for opening your own online shop?

Crafting was always something I did during the holidays to make gifts, or as a hobby to relax. Once I realized that I was frustrated in my life because my favorite activities were limited to 2 weeks out of the year, I decided to turn my hobby into a business so that I could justify the time and expense of doing what I loved every day.

3. Where did the name of your online shop come from?

At the time that I opened my shop, I was studying Marine Biology, and shoreline ecology in particular. That's where the "crab" part came from. I am also a former classroom teacher who works as an education consultant. So, "apple" was a natural extension of the teacher part of me. The result, "Crab Apple Designs" just had a good sound to it.

4. What kind of products do you sell?

Mostly blank books and journals, but also paper collages, stationery and note cards, and some vintage ephemera and paper and fabric accessories.

5. What product(s) are your best sellers?

My pack of vintage airmail stickers is my biggest seller. Also, my paper doll note cards and owl stickers are popular.

6. Do you sell specific items that you would recommend for the upcoming fall and winter holidays?

I have lots of Back to School themed goodies, and I always have Halloween and Christmas cards as the holidays get closer.

7. New and upcoming additions to your current list of products?

I am working on a line of cards based on prints of my original collages. These include my popular owl collages as well as other colorful scenes. In addition, I am illustrating an owl themed alphabet coloring book that I hope to have ready by Christmas. Finally, I am developing a line of collages that are paper replicas of butterfly collections.

8. Anything else you would like to share with my readers about your shop or your items?

As a former teacher with a science background, I love old books, vintage readers and illustrations, and scientific diagrams. I love to incorporate these materials into my work. I am always working on fresh ideas for my shop. Many of my ideas come from my customers who offer suggestions or give me inspiration when they place custom orders.

And now for a fabulous special offer from Crab Apple Designs, exclusively for CCLL readers!

Melissa is offering 50% off of a printable cupcake themed coloring book (regular price is $10.00)! All you have to do is mention you saw her Sponsor Spotlight on Crazy Cat Lady's Library when you place your order!!! So please pop on over to Crab Apple Designs, take a look at all the fabulous goodies Melissa has for sale, and maybe you will find that perfect something you have been looking for!

Getting to Know You Sunday (A day late!)

I saw this meme on one of my fellow blogger's page, Joann's Best, and had to go check it out. mannland5 appears to be the host of this cool Sunday meme:

Getting to know YOU

*to play..copy the questions..answer them..then come back here and link up so we can get to know all about each other*

The Questions:

1. What kind of athlete has the hottest body?
2. Are you a planner or a procrastinator?
3. Diet or regular (soda)?
4. What's your one "must have" for Fall?
5. What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
6. What do you think is the sexiest profession for a guy?
7. Did you wear braces?
8. Would you rather have a guy that's super sexy or kind?

My answers:

1. Personally, I like ice skaters and gymnasts. Definitely strong, but not too over-the-top muscle-y.

2. I am both. I will plan something to death, but then put off actually doing something with the plan until I absolutely have to!

3. Diet Coke with Lime!

4. Since my birthday is in October, my "must have" for fall is a birthday celebration with my family...nothing huge, but maybe a nice dinner out or something else that makes me feel special.

5. My favorite fast food restaurant is Jersey Mike's Subs. I'm originally from PA and spent a lot of time at the Jersey shore while I was growing up, and having lived in the south since 1991, I was thrilled to find Jersey Mike's...NOBODY else down here can make an authentic Jersey sub like they can! It's all in the bread! Just look at these:

The Original Italian Sub

(with Provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni...Yum!)

The Classic Philly Cheesesteak

(with fried onions and peppers, made with shaved beef or chicken...absolutely to die for!)

6. The sexiest profession for a guy? ANY profession that he truly has a passion for and enjoys doing. If he is happy at work then he will be happy at home!

7. Alas, I wore braces for almost 4 years...I wouldn't wear my rubber bands or headgear so it took my poor orthodontist forever to realign my teeth. Of course at the time I was oblivious to the problems my noncompliance were causing him, but when my own 2 daughters were in braces, I had the strongest urge to call up old Dr. G and apologize.

8. I'd take a truly kind man over a super sexy one any time. Although it wouldn't hut for him to be both, I have found that enduring kindness is so much more important in the long run than a pretty face and hunky body.

So there are my answers to this week's Getting to Know You questions. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Hugs~
